Paris Rosen showed the FMX world whats up

And after rehabbing his X Games injuries, Rosen showed the FMX world whats up. DMX caught with Rosen who hails from Minnesota (almost Canadian) and got the scoop on what went down a few weeks ago in Arizona and what we can look forward too in 2011.

Chris Elliott- Paris Rosen....What have you been up to since X Games?

Paris Rosen- Hiking mountains and pumping iron.  I’m full of a large amount of piss and vinegar.  The day after I got out of the hospital I was on the phone with Jay of Powerband Films.  I could barely move at the time, but that didn’t stop me from telling Jay, “In October... I’m going to be front flipping my bike again”. Being only two months out Jay was weary but said that he’d love to capture it on film and he did.  In a little over two months from that phone call Jay true to his word came out to the desert in Phoenix, Arizona in Vince Morgan’s backyard to film me front flip the shit out of my CR.  Not only did I throw multiple front flips but one of them was my claimed combo for X Games 16 which was the Nac Nac Front Flip.  Jay said he had never been as afraid as he was that day to film a shot in 13 years of filming motocross.  2 Weeks out he was asking me if I still wanted to do this and that there was no pressure. Then a few days later he said that he would like a EMT on site….then a few days later he asked if I could do a few in the pit first to get it for the video! Ha-ha, I could tell he was nervous!  I was a little too….but not that much!  Needles to say the morning of the 14th arrived and Jay had shown up after driving 6 hours straight thru the night from his home in California.  No EMT and no foam pit….before Jay even had his main camera fully assembled he looked over and saw me spinning my first front flip!   I just showed up and ripped it…it’s kind of my style of doing things and I don’t think he was ready for it!

Paris has been doing some hiking in Arizona.
CE- I know you probably hate this question, what went wrong at X? And what needs to happen in order for you to go to LA next year and stomp your trick?

PR- I didn’t have the money to pull together a good enough program this year at X and it left me with a garbage bike that went to hell on me when I needed it most.  The whole month of July I had abandoned the foam pit in my training regimen.  Everyday instead of show up to Vince’s to do front flips into the pit I would just show up…Vince would come out in his flip flops and morning cup of coffee and watch as I would spin multiple 75 foot front flips to dirt in his backyard.  It was pretty badass if you think about it! So X Games comes along and after spinning well over 30 of those bad boys to dirt I was sitting in Staples Center ready to kick some ass!  I wasn’t going to go to X this year unless I was doing them do dirt consistently, and that I had taken care of. The next part of my plan was that I was committed to throw the front flip in practice at X before the event…..that one didn’t go as planned.  Once we fired up the bike and went out for practice we had major throttle issues.   When I would rev the dam thing out and chop it the motor would stay revved at like ¾ to ½ throttle!   It was so screwed up!  That is like my life line when I front flip…that throttle needs to cut off exactly when I need it to.  It is the driving force to the start of the forward rotation.  Needless to say we couldn’t get the shit to work and it was still screwed up when I was on top of that roll in ready to drop in.  Oh well, just turn and go and hope for the best.  It sucked…I needed that preparation to get dialled on the course  and get my timing down with the new setup.  All in all it was my fault and I screwed the pooch big time and what do you do! I screwed the hell out of that pooch!  My crew and I worked ourselves to the bone and we tried our absolute best.  We are all fighters and we freakin ’gave it hell!  In FMX that’s all you really can do! GIVER HELL!!

Paris is anything but scared...if you watched X , you know Paris went down swinging!!!
CE- So do you think there is a 3rd X Games in your future?

PR- I don’t even really care….I doubt they will even want me back.  If they do I will go and once again try my best to kick ass!  I proved in October that I’m not afraid.
CE- What the plan for 2011?

PR - I don’t know……just ride the bike around and do stupid shit on it as usual.  Just keep giving it hell!

Paris has a good group of family and friends who back him.
CE- People might not know this, but you and the boys have a little FMX team in Arizona called,” Brigade FMX”. Tell us a little bit about that?

PRYeah it’s actually called the Boogeyman Brigade….it’s a tight group of friends from all over the country, but mainly Minnesota.  We all see eye to eye and are kind of outcasts... but to each other we are family. We would all kill for one another.  We all really walk to the beat of a different drum.  It’s awesome!  We called ourselves the Boogeyman Brigade as a joke and it has stuck now for like 10 years!  Our demo company branched off and is called Brigade FMX.  That is pretty much based down in AZ right now and is run by myself and Vince Morgan.  http://brigadefmx.com

CE- Right on Paris, while I still got you on the phone...anyone you would like to thank?
PR- Yah, I got to thank Stitch from Trick Stix Suspension (http://trickstix.com).Suspension is probably one of the most important things for me and Stitch has hooked me up. I also got to thank Vince Morgan, and of course all my family and friends back in Minnesota!  Ride or DIE!
