2012 edition of the Crocodile Trophy in North Queensland

Only about a month ago, the Crocodile Trophy ended with 17 wins by Dutchman Jeroen Boelen and Australian Jessica Douglas. But the 2012 edition of the race will not resemble what you just finished. Will be shorter and will include more technical terrain.

The Crocodile Trophy 2012 will start in Far North Queensland on 20 October with a bang: first, the tracks of the World Cup of Smithfield in Cairns will be included for phase 1. The 30 km race track in technically challenging terrain will also allow local pilots in Australia and New Zealand to run with the international crowd Crocodile Trophy, and there are plans to open the second phase from Cairns to Lake Tinaroo to the public as well.

From Cairns, the following eight days will challenge the technical skills of participants more than ever before. "The steps will be shorter, however, that will include mountain bike tracks considerably more," said event organizer Gerhard Schönbach. The race is known to include large sections of gravel roads, many of which are extremely difficult.

In addition, a time trial in the historic mining town Irvinebank will add some variety.

In general, participants will walk 866 km, with the longest stage covering 136 km.

The Outback will continue to be center stage with the cattle station in Mt. Mulligan, Mitchell River and the Bicentennial National Trail all be included in the plan stage of the race through the Australian bush. In addition, the stage through the legendary "Book Quinken Aborigines" from Maytown to Laura and included will be revived after a hiatus of 10 years.

Adventure Croc

Beyond the individual and the team of three classifications, another class will be offered in 2012. The "Croc Adventure" category will be the team to two teams (male, female or mixed). Participants in this category are required to travel together and come across the finish line each day no more than two minutes apart from each other.

"With this category, team spirit and mutual support are the center of attention," said organizer Schönbach. "After all, most of the time, together you are stronger. When it comes to mechanical or low resistance, the teammates can help and push each other, and there's always someone to tell with the project."

Exceptional set of pilots this year in Italy and Belgium led the organizers in this category include the program for 2012 again.

The field limit was increased to 200 pilots to avoid the individual and team drivers losing points race. Thus, a crowd of 300 athletes, supporters and staff organization will reach the finish line in Crocodile Trophy October 28, 2012. The race will end on the grassy hill in Cooktown, the historic landing site of Captain Cook.
