How to Buy the Right Fitting Motorcycle Helmets?

Though motorcycle helmets are designed to ensure the safety and security of the rider, most of us tend to pick up helmets solely for its style! While purchasing a motorcycle helmet it is very important to check whether it offers a proper fit. Not all helmets are for everyone. There are helmets in various sizes and purposes and only by choosing the right helmet, can you ensure safety. For comfort and safety, choose a helmet that offers a snug fitting.

Helmet is the most important piece of motorcycle gear and you have to spare a thought while choosing helmets to ensure full protection. Going by the manufacturer's labeled sizes might not be a good yardstick while purchasing motorcycle helmets. Measure the head and choose the one that suits the shape and size of your head. If you are buying online, use a cloth tape measure to find out the right size. The head should be measures at a point one inch above the eyebrows in the front and at a point in the back of the head to get the accurate measurement.

You can also use your hat size to find out your helmet size and if your measurement falls between any two standard helmet sizes, go for the largest size. The next step would be to do a visual check. It should ensure a snug fitting and should not slip down over the eyes at the front and should not leave extra pressure on the cheeks. Put on the helmet and rotate it from side to side to see whether there is any resistance to the movement or discomfort. A properly fitted motorcycle helmet will cause the skin to move in the direction of the helmet as it is being moved and the wearer can feel the pressure being uniformly distributed around the head. With passing time, helmets too break in, so make sure to buy a snug fitting helmet to ensure maximum utility.

An ideal motorcycle helmet should ensure clear vision and protection and should be well suited to use in rain and shine. Choose Skid Lid helmets to ensure protection from wet weather because these cover the whole face including the eyes. If you are daily bike commuter it is better not to go for the fancy, half face models as these only cover the top of the head thereby exposing your face to dust and rain that could hamper your vision.

Helmets are functional accessories that can save your life in the event of an accident, so make sure to make your choice with diligence.
