Carl Nunn leading is team up
Carl Nunn rode to three solid top-ten finishes in the fourth round of the Maxxis British Motocross Championship, held at Lyng in Norfolk making is Team MVR-D Suzuki moved back towards the sharp end at the weekend.
Not enjoying the best of success in recent rounds, Nunn proved his doubters wrong as he qualified in ninth for MX1 and was pushing with the leaders by the middle of the race before running off the track trying to pass Alex Snow, to eventually settle for a solid eighth place finish.
In race two, an eventual eighth place finish was another positive result after being pushed wide in the first corner to come back from 15th, before Nunn dug deep in the final moto of the day to ride to a great sixth place finish, ending the day in sixth overall too.
Nunn commented, “That’s more like it. The last few weeks have been tough, but the team continued to show faith in me and I’m confident we’re back on-track for the remainder of the season. The RM-Z450 is a great bike and now we’re finding the right settings, I’m confident we can push harder in the coming races.”
MX2 rider, Matiss Karro, had a weekend to forget after a very promising start to his first race, where he was as high as third, turned to disaster after a front-end crash and further accident jarred his already injured thumb ligament, forcing retirement. Determined to ride the remaining two races, Karro was back on form in race two, taking seventh at the flag before a broken exhaust forced retirement in the final moto with just three laps remaining.
Karro commented, “What a weekend. The really annoying thing is that I felt good on the bike, but we were just dogged with bad luck. My thumb is sore, but I’ll be out in Germany this weekend, hoping for a better weekend.”
Team manager, Mark Chamberlain, commented, “Firstly I have to congratulate Carl for digging deep and returning some decent results. We saw the old Carl this weekend and now we have a good set-up I think we’ll see a return to the podium in the remaining races. Matiss on the other hand just had one of those weekends where nothing goes right. They happen and we just have to deal with it and learn from it too. Overall though, I’m feeling positive for the remainder of the season.”
The team will be split between the UK and Germany this weekend coming, as Matiss competes in the German Grand Prix and Carl participates in the Red Bull round at the Silverstone round of MotoGP.
