America 2011 USGP
When this week was announced that two or maybe three GP’s would be run in America in 2011 and Monster Energy would come in and be part of that development we can sit back and fell pretty happy that we saw what will be the start of something special in America, and in the World.
For American fans and Grand Prix fans it was a huge bonus to what was an amazing weekend.
The fact the MX1 races were amazing, and the GP riders loved their visit to Glen Helen. Many of the American teams came to help, and some of the American based riders joining the FIM World Championship riders in what was a really special atmosphere.
Pretty cool to have the top American racer Mike Alessi battling with the World’s best Motocross rider Antonio Cairoli.
I’ve been to many races in my 49 years, attended maybe 100 events in America and probably 1000 in Europe and Australia. I’ve seen races in Japan, South Africa, Africa, South America, and I can honestly say that last weekend’s USGP ranked right up there with some of the best.
It wasn’t of MXoN proportions, but as far as GP’s go it was a really exciting and pleasant experience.
News came in that more than million people watched the race live around the World and for companies like Monster, Red Bull, Alpinestars and KTM it was a huge winner. Riders like Antonio Cairoli and Marvin Musquin proved that their spot at the top of the World is secure. Both coming off successful performances at the Red Bull Motocross of Nations once again showed that they are the best in the World and it’s going to take a mammoth effort from the best AMA riders to run with them at the 2010 MXoN in September.
Sure enough they will come even more motivated to beat the two World Champions, and Ben Townley’s name will come up as a possible contender for the MXoN overall victory, as will Mike Alessi, Chad Reed, Ryan Dungey or Christophe Pourcel if he decides to ride for his country.
