2010 Junior Motocross Club in Peterborough

The seventh round of Peterborough Junior Motocross Club Championship this weekend,as incorporated a round of the NGR Over 35 series which added an additional bit of spice to the day Once again the track had been prepared superbly by the owners giving way to an awesome days racing.

In a well attended auto class Tom White was on a mission. He stormed out of the gates and blitzed each race to take home the first maximum of the day. Benjamin Parry was also in very good form taking second place in race one and two and a fourth in the final race was enough to nail second overall. There was a superb battle for 3rd ,4th & 5th place between Pacey Forsdike, Katie Booth and Mitchell Murfitt. All three of them took a podium finish in the day and only finished with a point between them!

Another Young Man on a mission was the flying Eton Williams in the Junior 65’s. He took full control in this group and headed home with the second maximum of the day. Callum Mitchell was also on fire taking second in the first two races and despite a blip in race three he did enough for second overall. The only young lady in the group, Amy Mannings, put in a fine display to take third overall including a fantastic second place in the last race.

In a day full of dominating rides Hal Whyatt in the Small Wheel 85’s didn’t disappoint. This young man was ripping and tore around the Chatteris for maximum points. Second spot went to an in form Kyle Jenkins who also put on a good show with three solid rides. Third place saw a tight battle between Cameron Rayner, Kathryn Booth and Ty-Reiss Veness who all rode their socks off throughout the day, eventually finishing in that order.

The next maximum of the day came from Max Hind in the Big Wheel 85’s. He holeshot every race and cleared off into the distance for three comfortable wins.. In the first race it was Angus Turner who came home second with a great ride followed by Joe Wright in third. In race two it was Joe who finished second and Angus in third. In the final race Joe came home second again, but it was a very impressive Emma Richards who finished the day in style in third place.

The Youth 125/250 class saw some fast close racing. Tom Geraghty holeshot the first race followed by Jordan Hind, Aaron Edwards and John Hall. Jordan found his way pass Tom and headed home for a clear win with Aaron Second and John in third after Aaron hit the deck. In race two in was an impressive James Carter who holeshot the race and lead for half a lap before John Hall, Jordan, Aaron and Tom flew past. John and Jordan rubbed plastics for the whole race but John stayed strong and held it to the finish with Jordan a close second and Tom third. In the final race Fred White took the holeshot closely followed by Jordan, Tom, John and Aaron. Tom and Jordan cleared off but a mistake by Tom let Jordan through halfway through the race and he headed home for the win and overall victory. Tom came home second with John in third.

In the Adult race there was no stopping a very impressive Billy King who took control of this group from the outset with three holeshots and three wins for his efforts. The battle for second and third in this group was very tight- Martin Streeton started the day off well with an excellent second place in race one and two and he followed this up with a fourth in the final race which left him on 122 points. However Charlie Janes was also in good form and his 3/2/2 score also gave him 122 points , but his higher finish in the final race meant he nabbed second place overall. A quick mention for Connor Buxton who was the only other rider to finish in the top three during the day.

In the PJMC over 35’s Darren Murfitt looked the part on his shiny new steed and didn’t disappoint. He put on an awesome performance taking the final maximum of the day. Lee keyton was also in good form taking all three second place finishes for his hard work. Last man on the podium with three thirds was Martin Jenkins which is a good day’s work in this competitive group.

Finally the guest NGR Over 35 group gave the most diverse racing action of the day with three different winners. It was Lee Keyton who drew first blood with a win in race one, followed by Steve Gilby and Mark Sandle. In race two in was Steve who got the upper hand and headed home in first, but this time is was Paul Hubbard in second and Lee in third. The final race victory went to Mark Sandle with Steve Bottoms second and Dave White head in third. After all the number crunching had been done consistency was the key and Steve Gilby was the man at the top of the pile.
